After Hasbro announced the return of the super-articulated 3.75″ Star Wars Vintage Collection figures next year, many of us collectors thought we were done hunting for exclusive Black Series 4″ figures at Walmart. But apparently, we thought wrong! Announced today as part of the Force Friday II festivities are exclusive 3.75″ Black Series Rose, Praetorian Guard, TFA Luke Skywalker and Stormtrooper Execution figures!
While I have little doubt that we’ll see these repacked down the road as part of the Vintage Collection, if you want these four characters for your super-articulated 3 3/4″ collections in 2017, you’ll have to stalk Walmart stores to do it.
The “hot” figure from this wave will almost unquestionably be the Force Awakens version of Luke Skywalker, who we’ve waited nearly two years to get in this style. Hard to believe that a Hot Toys Episode VII Luke Skywalker has been released before a 3.75″ version, but it’s been a crazy few years!
We don’t know a whole lot about new character Rose of the Resistance just yet, besides the fact that she’s a technician. As she’ll be adventuring with Finn in the movie and appears to be a new core cast member, I think she’ll do alright sales-wise, despite looking a wee bit “plain” for a Star Wars figure. This will probably be the slowest seller from the wave.
I’m honestly a little bit afraid that both these troops will be as meaningless in The Last Jedi as the First Order Snowtroopers were in The Force Awakens, but there’s no denying how kickass these new character designs are. Insignificant or not, I’ll be buying these on sight.
There’s no official confirmation on whether or not these four 3.75″ Black Series The Last Jedi figures will be available at Walmart stores on Force Friday II tonight or not (I’d venture to guess they won’t, as I’ve heard zero leaks about them prior to their announcement), but I’ll post an update once these are officially turning up in stores.
Thoughts on what may turn out to be the final Walmart Exclusive Black Series wave of 3 3/4″ figures, Star Wars collectors? Are you going to be on the prowl for any of these, or will you wait and see if these get repacked as part of the Vintage Collection in 2018 instead?
