NYCC 2016: Kotobukiya Star Wars ARTFX+ Statues Photos!

While I walked away from the Marvel display at the Kotobukiya booth at New York Comic-Con 2016 feeling a teensy bit disappointed about the lack of reveals, I certainly didn’t have that problem with the NYCC 2016 Kotobukiya Star Wars display! Koto displayed a bunch of ARTFX+ statues for the first time, including K-2SO, a Flametrooper, Shoretroopers, a Rogue One Death Trooper and more…

NYCC 2016 Star Wars ARTFX+ Statues Revealed Rogue One Flametrooper

I legit almost forgot to look for the Star Wars display at the NYCC 2016 Kotobukiya booth today because it was tucked around the corner of the both next to where Koto’s sales desk was set up for the show.

Luckily, I caught a glance of an enormous flame effects piece out of the corner of my eye and realized my mistake before I could walk away without taking any photos of all of Koto’s goodies from the show! Let’s take a look…

NYCC 2016 Koto Flametrooper ARTFX+ Statue DisplayThe item that first caught my eye and is my favorite of the new ARTFX+ statues displayed at New York Comic Con is the First Order Flametrooper and First Order Snowtrooper two-pack.

Kotobukiya Flame Trooper Statue PrototypeThe Flame Trooper’s flame is humongous!! It’s easily the width of several whole other figures put together. I can’t wait to see the flame effects pieces in color!

Kotobukiya K-2SO ARTFX+ Statue PrototypeMeanwhile, four ARTFX+ statues from Rogue One were also on display.

There was an unpainted K-2SO (which was extremely difficult to get a good photo of through the glass), who’s hunched a bit but still much larger than your standard Star Wars ARTFX+ statue. I’m hoping for some more Rebels to put with K-2SO soon. K-2SO is due out in May 2017.

Kotobukiya Death Trooper ARTFX+ Statue PrototypeThe first Death Trooper ARTFX+ statue was also on display, and it looks to be the Deathtrooper Specialist variety. He looked nice in grey, though this is a piece I’m dying to see painted.

The Shoretroopers were just sort of standing around neutrally in the display, but I’m hoping they’ll get some alternate options thrown in when they’re actually released.

2016 NYCC Kotobukiya ARTFX Death Trooper StatueA 1/6 scale Death Trooper ARTFX statue in a dynamic running pose was also announced for June 2017, with pricing to be determined.

NYCC 2016 Barnes and Noble Exclusive R2-X2 andR-3PORounding out the ARTFX+ releases were the Barnes and Noble Exclusive R-3PO and R2-X2 statues due out this fall. I’m running out of space for protocol and astromech droids in my display, but I may scoop these up anyway to keep my droid completism alive.

NYCC 2016 Kotobukiya ARTFX+ Statues Display Star Wars

A bunch of upcoming and previously-released statues like Kylo Ren and Captain Phasma were also on display, although the Rey and Finn two-pack announced at SDCC was absent.

On the lower shelf of the display the previously-solicited Darth Vader and Kylo Ren ARTFX statues were also shown off in final form. The Vader seems kind of generic to me, but the snow deco on ARTFX Kylo Ren is outstanding. Love that piece!

NYCC 2016 Kylo Ren ARTFX StatueKotobukiya Star Was ARTFX+ statues are available online now, with the new prototypes shown off at NYCC expected to go up for sale throughout the fall/winter. I’ll send out alerts via the Star Wars Toy News Facebook Page as new statues go up for sale.

What do you think of the (surprisingly) many new Kotobukiya Star Wars figures revealed at New York Comic Con 2016, Star Wars collectors? Are any of these Rogue One statues, the awesome Flametrooper or the Barnes and Noble exclusives on your buy list for this year?
