LEGO Star Wars 2017 Sets Photos Revealed! Rogue One Y-Wing!

Ready or not, here they come! While it was just a month and a half ago that the entire first wave of LEGO Star Wars Rogue One sets went up for sale, the next wave coming out this winter has now been revealed! Coming our way this winter, it’s a brand new LEGO Star Wars 2017 Y-Wing Starfighter 75172, along with two new Battle Packs and a LEGO Battle on Scarif set!

As happened last year, it appears that the early 2017 LEGO Star Wars sets are going to be split into multiple “waves”, with the eight new Rogue One sets arriving in January and the non-Rogue One sets coming out at a later date (likely March 2017).

Luckily, the most-anticipated of the LEGO Star Wars Winter 2017 sets is from Rogue One–the LEGO Y-Wing 75172! While this build looks extremely similar to the Clone Wars Y-Wing set, it’s been years since a Y-Wing has been produced and they’re getting expensive on the aftermarket.

The 75172 Y-Wing set includes the debut minifigures of Moroff and Mon Calamari Admiral Raddus, as well as a Y-Wing Pilot, an Astromech Droid and a Stormtrooper.

The bunker environment in this set looks pretty underwhelming, but I’m definitely intrigued by whatever is casting the evil blue light from inside those doors!

The set includes four minifigures: two Scarif Troopers, a Cassian Andor minifig and an exclusive LEGO Jyn Erso Imperial Disguise minifigure. Depending on how popular this scene is in the movie, I wouldn’t be altogether shocked if this set ends up being a shelf warmer with low sales.

Finally, we’ve got the traditional pair of Star Wars Battle Packs to kick off the year with! I’ve bought so many different mixes of Rebel Trooper Battle Packs and Imperial Trooper Battle Packs over the years that I’ve legit lost track of how many iterations there have been.

The 75165 Imperial Trooper Battle Pack includes two Death Trooper minifigures and two Stormtrooper minifigures, along with a mini Imperial Walker, and ought to be a hot seller to those army-building LEGO Deathtroopers.

Meanwhile, the LEGO 76164 Rebel Trooper Battle Pack contains four assorted Rebel Trooper minifigures, along with a Speeder Bike and… uh… what looks like a bumper car with a big turret. Heh.

I think we can reasonably expect that the Rogue One Battle Packs will be at the $12.99 price-point, though, as that is the traditional price-point for Star Wars Battle Packs. If I had to guess, I would say $39.99 for the Battle of Scarif and $79.99 for the Y-Wing, but those are just that: guesses.

I’ll also discused the four new LEGO Rogue One Micro-Fighters sets coming out this winter over on Brick Toy News today, so be sure to check that out if you’re a fan of that chibi-styled line of vehicles.

What do you think of the first quartet of LEGO Star Wars 2017 sets? Is there anything in this wave that’s a must-have for you, or have you not been bitten by the brick-built Rogue One bug just yet?
