Star Wars Celebration Orlando 2017 is just ten days away, but the exclusives for the show are still being revealed! And today, we finally learned the Gentle Giant Celebration Orlando Exclusives–one of which was somewhat predictable, and one of which something I’m betting no one expected! Coming to Star Wars Celebration 2017 next week: the Gentle Giant McQuarrie Han Solo Mini Bust… and Jumbo Dianoga Trash Monster figure!
After debuting the Vintage Jumbo Boba Fett figure at Celebration V way back in Orlando at Celebration V, Jumbo figures return once again as one of this year’s exclusives: the Gentle Giant Dianoga Trash Monster!
This is, quite frankly, one of the most bizarrely compelling things to be announced for the show to-date. The neon green, unpainted 1:6 Dianoga Trash Monster will come with a vintage-style box and even foam “trash” to hang out in! I’m not much into the Jumbo Vintage Star Wars figure line, but I think I’m going to have to make an exception for this crazy beastie. I love the idea of this. Love it!
Meanwhile–!! The long-running Gentle Giant McQuarrie Concept Mini Bust line will be getting an addition that collectors have been pining for: McQuarrie Han Solo! Last year’s McQuarrie Chewbacca mini bust was a bit too limited and sold out instantaneously, so hopefully the edition size on this Concept Han Solo mini-bust is a bit larger.
The bearded, cape-wearing, Lightsaber-wielding Han Solo McQuarrie Concept design is one of my least favorite Ralph McQuarrie designs, but I have several of the other pieces in this series, so I’ll likely end up ordering Han Solo as well.
Both the Dianoga Trash Monster Jumbo figure and the McQuarrie Concept Han Solo bust will be available for order online this week for 2017 Premier Guild Members. I’ll post an update here and to the Star Wars Toy News Twitter and Facebook Pages once pricing information for the two items is revealed (assuming it is revealed prior to the pre-order).
What do you think of the 2017 Star Wars Celebration Orlando Gentle Giant Exclusives? Are either of these very appropriate exclusives for the 40th Anniversary of A New Hope bound for your collection, or did Gentle Giant miss the mark for your dollars with this pair of exclusives?
